The cunts must know they've released a wrong 'un release too, it seems to be cheaper already now.

I'm assuming there's definitely no English subs for the Spanish track? If I'm going to end up with DVD quality I'll probably just try to get the BCI one again sometime when I can get it cheap enough.

Do you wait for the reviews for Code Red discs before you buy them to see what they are like?  Or do you just buy them regardless and if they do turn out to be poor defend them to the hilt and justify it?  ;D

I've had some really mixed experiences with the German releases.
You must know by now CR releases are at least decent.  :D

Considering the country where I bought more BD releases from this year is Germany, my experiences with German releases have been quite positive. You just have to know there are 2-3 labels to avoid, since they always release upscalled content, usually in 1080i.
The website http://www.bluray-disc.de/ is quite useful to gather some info on cut/uncut status, and disc specs.

As for Code Red, I recently bought their first 7 BD releases, and I only wish the transfers on those were on par with most German releases I bought, since most CR BDs have significant compression problems.

Bill mentioned not long ago that he doesn't even own a BD player. I don't know if that is still true, but maybe he should get someone familiar with the format to help him out with his releases, since it would surely result is better products.

Lighthouse Home Entertainment is one of them.
VZ-Handelsgesellschaft mbH is another (the later is also a distributor for DigiDreams Studios releases, which usually aren't upscales, but have other problems: their owner hates film grain, so their releases usually have extreme use of DNR).

There are a couple more. I'll let you know when I remember.  ;D
The website I posted (http://www.bluray-disc.de/) is quite useful to gather info on German releases, especially regarding cut/uncut status.

There's a comparison between the BD and BCI DVD here:

http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/multi_comparison.php?disc1=6256&disc2=6257&hd_multiID=2553#auswahl

Looks to be more detail in the BD and HD to me but a bit of s hit source/encode. The combing in this one is horrible

http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/multi_comparison.php?art=magnify&x=645&y=263&action=1&image=4&hd_multiID=2553&cap1=59102&cap2=59113&disc1=6256&disc2=6257&lossless=#vergleich

Looks like it might have been a smoothed 1080i source with some bad interlacing in parts so some of them look half decent.

As for the day for night...

Thanks for heads up on the caps.
Looks more to me like the SD source ( taken from a HD scan ) used for the DVD but at 1080i.

My gut feeling is that it was an interlaced HD broadcast master originally. You couldn't get anywhere near this sharpness from an up convert.

All those caps look pretty grain free so I'm guessing it's been scrubbed away along with a load of detail, which would explain the soft smeary look.

Looking at the new Blu from Scream and it looks pretty much exactly like the German Blu.
A shit master for sure.
