Picked up the 88 Films bd in hmv today and have to say in disappointed in the subtitles to accompany the Italian track. For a start their hoh subtitles so they point out sound made. And the actual subtitles reposition themselves around the screen dependant on where the person who is talking is located. Very distracting, so I switched to the English track. If the rest of the release are going to be like this then I'll skip them.

Grabbed it from Fopp yesterday. Not a promising start to their italian collection  :-[

A mild annoyance, yes. But I fell asleep twenty minutes in so I'll give a proper run down once I've finished it.

Balls. I bought it in HMV today as well. Haven't opened it yet but that's a bit pants. I could live with it probably but it's a bit off.

Looking at the Beaver comparison it seems they've probably just ripped the HOH subs from the English track on the BU BD and changed the colour.

That's pretty shit. I've never seen subtitles like that before and it's pretty annoying to watch. Aside from the 'honks horn' type subs, it also says [woman]  or [man] to signify who's speaking.

Does anyone want to say anything about it on their Facebook page? They're not going to take anything I say seriously.

I was just thinking the other day what it would be like to have the subs appear next to each person as they speak, bouncing around the screen. I guess it looks like shit by the comments above.

Is it so difficult for a company to simply put decent subtitles on a disc and be done with it? It's like they're using every shortcut under the sun these days.

Just like RARO - get in contact with me here via PM and I'll do your subs for free.

They said this was rushed to make the street date, which is disappointing. Even Arrow delay releases to ensure they get as many things right as possible. I do wonder what quality control processes are in place. I get it's a business and that time is money, but surely you would want to not devalue your brand with a shoddy release?
