  • I've some extremely distressing news

I was just thinking the other day what it would be like to have the subs appear next to each person as they speak, bouncing around the screen. I guess it looks like shit by the comments above.

The theatrical version of the Russian film NIGHT WATCH (2004) has subtitles like this, very effective and I thought they were done really well - they weren't your usual subs though, they would disappear into wisps of smoke, pools of water etc which added to the supernatural element of the film. Haven't seen it done since mind.

Does anyone want to say anything about it on their Facebook page? They're not going to take anything I say seriously.
Whoever does so would get jumped on by all their "followers" if the slightest negative thing is said.  :-\

Well stap me vitals, I've had a response :-

Thanks for the comment. Most of our future Italian releases will have newly translated subtitles from Nick Frame, including our next title, Bloodstained Shadow. With Night Train Murders we had to meet a street date and our distributors had to honour orders from the stores - meaning time was ticking for us, as a very small operation, so we used the subtitles the distributor gave us - not ideal, we know. In retrospect, a printing error on the sleeve bumped Night Train Murders anyway :( We live and learn, but we hope you enjoyed the package and enjoy the new subtitles for Bloodstained Shadow (which looks fantastic) and our other forthcoming releases.

I have seen this practice at least one Twilight Time release: The Big Heat.

Loads of companies do it, I've often put subs on things if I haven't caught what someones said and they have been like that from various companies releases.

I can honestly say that I've never seen it before. And my hearing is quite shit so I often put the subs on just to catch what's said. And I don't like it.
