The Trip (Michael Winterbottom, 2010)
« on: 16 Nov 2010 - 11:38 »

Anyone been following this series? I missed last nights but the first two were, I thought, great.

Fabulously showing of the Lancashire countryside whilst making me laugh out loud at Coogan and Brydon improvising some really great stuff while trying to go around a bunch of restaurants reviewing the food.

Asolutely bloody loved episode two where they are doing James Bond impressions and trying to out do each other.

Love it.

First I've heard of it. I've enjoyed everything I've seen Coogan in apart from Hamlet 2.

Watched all three in a row last night and absolutely loved it.  Beautifully made and very funny.  I believe it is being edited together to be released in the US as a film next year.

DVD is out in the UK shortly.

It;s worth pointing out that there are six episodes in the series but there's also a feature-length film version that has been shown in festivals.

Finally caught the first couple of episodes last week. It’s great, eh?
I never tire of Coogan’s interpretation of himself, loved A COCK AND BULL STORY and the vignette in Jarmusch’s COFFEE AND CIGARETTES is priceless too. I knew I was going to like THE TRIP but must say I enjoyed the first two shows even more than I thought I would. Pairing Coogan and Brydon was a stroke of genius and THE TRIP proves that C&BS was no one-off fluke. Will check out the other four episodes over the next few days, hopefully.
