Warner archive will be releasing 'hercules, samson and ulysses' on 31st july.I hated the whole MOD concept when it was first announce but have grown to really appreciate it.I just wish they were a tad cheaper, but would we ever have seen legit english friendly dvds of margheriti's 'gamma quadrilogy'(bar one),'hate for hate',uncut 'crescendo' etc? me thinks not.....I see they have released in the past 'black zoo' and 'hysteria',has anybody seen them and are they any good? I am assuming the prints are up to warner's normal standards

It's long been in the making, but finally here it is - the Xbox of a different kind:

Starting in August, Anolis will release the first 6 films of the highly amusing Eurospy series KOMMISSAR X. KOMMISSAR X - JAGD AUF UNBEKANNT (1966) will be sold together with the box and a 142 minutes bonus documentary dvd that features the final public appearance by the late Tony Kendall. Brad Harris and Gianfranco Parolini also participate. Other extras include the condensed Super 8 mm version of the film, trailers, a picture gallery and a comprehensive booklet. The film itself will offer German and English audio; I am not sure about the bonus dvd, though.

The other 5 films will be released separately in the months ahead. No word yet on language options and extras, but given the track record of Anolis I'd expect English to be offered on all of them. The films are (please forgive me, I am too lazy to type in the English titles  :-\ ):

DREI GELBE KATZEN (1966)
IN DEN KLAUEN DES GOLDENEN DRACHEN (1966)
DREI GRÜNE HUNDE (1967)
DREI BLAUE PANTHER (1968)
DREI GOLDENE SCHLANGEN (1969)

According to the release plan the box should be filled by December. Unfortunately, due to the well-known legal problems with Harald Reinl's son, the final entry in the series KOMMISSAR X JAGT DIE ROTEN TIGER (1971) will not be included. Maybe a later release will close the gap some day -- one could always replace the bonus disc in the box set for the seventh film.  :-X

For any Bava completists, Dr Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs is getting a DVD release in the US. It's actually already out apparently but only through Walmart.

Margheriti's Gamma sci-fi series gets an Italian release (sadly no English options): http://www.videociak.net/customer/product.php?productid=30254&cat=&page=

Has anyone seen this or heard of the quality? Death Laid an Egg and Your Vice is a Locked Room amongst those listed for this four film pack.

What happened to Severin releasing this then? Now being released by Hens Tooth in Feb and DVD only. Suppose I'll have to buy it now as I flogged my old DVD when Severin announced it years ago!

Nice! Wonder if Frankenstein will still be censored there?

Swiss label Explosive Media has informed us that it plans to bring to Blu-ray two classic Italian spaghetti westerns: Giulio Petroni's Death Rides a Horse (1967), starring Lee Van Cleef, John Phillip Law, and Mario Brega, and Gianfranco Parolini's Sabata (1969), starring Lee Van Cleef, William Berger, and Ignazio Spalla.

The upcoming releases will have newly produced special features, bonus DVDs, and illustrated booklets. Both will be available for purchase in Switzerland and Germany later this year.

I've always had a soft spot for Sabata as it was one of the few Italian westerns that used to get shown on TV fairly regularly when I was a kid.
