Mine ships tomorrow from dvdpacific. Be nice to get it before a week from Saturday. Now that I know it's in the mail, I can't wait to see the improvements on the print and those cool extras.

Insane! I just saw an ad for electric pest control device called RiddexPlus that uses digital sound waves to get rid of pests.

You plug it into an outlet and voila.

Hopefully it won't reanimate the recently dead.  I find this both funny and a little scary. ;D

They also have something like that for squirrels which I guess have slightly more complex nervous systems (though you wouldn't know it considering how many have ended up as speedbumps in my area).

I know we've all see this this classic but does anyone else think the cover to the new 2 disc has a major spoiler to those that haven't?

LOL I may have to do a page at my Sleeping Corpses site about all the weird science pest control.

That is freaky.

If anyone is on the fence about the new Blue Underground 2 disc set: don't be. I watched the extras (and I was not expecting much particularly from Ray since distinct memories of making the film seem few and far between) and to me that was worth the double dip.

Ray did deliver a quote or two that was new, and the locations sequence/interview with Jorge Grau was excellent. The De Rossi interview wasn't that good, and I'm still something of an FX geek.

I must hand it to all the eurocult location hunters, because in watching that clip it's amazing the details I miss, but then I don't drive so maybe that's part of it :).   When I get to England Manchester and the cemetery are definitely on tap for a visit (along with the London tube where the American Werewolf in London stalking sequence was shot).

I'll attempt to watch the film over the weekend. This is the one horror movie I've seen recently (almost 3 years ago) that still scares the crap out of me (the sounds and the atmosphere), but I love it.

The only real complaint I have is the absolutely shit cover, but then dvd covers have not been BU's strong point. And it would have been cool had they updated the photo gallery too.

All in all, well worth it. And the fastest media mail delivery ever from dvdpacific. They must have known I was waiting for it  ;D  ::)

There appear to be two different English title sequences for this film (technically, five).  The AB-US and AB-UK titles sequences contain the same credits but have different fonts.  I think those are both newly created title overlays based on the content of the LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE titles (before the addition of the title animation) which are probably the export version from Italy.  The DON'T OPEN THE WINDOW title sequence has slightly different credits (besides the new title) and seems to translate the Spanish title sequence.  Two Spanish names are added to the screenplay credit after the two Italian ones.  The other title sequence(s) credit Giannetto de Rossi with "Special Optical Effects" while the DON'T credits read "Make-up and Special Effects."  Vincenzo Tomassi is credited as film editor on the LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE and LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE titles but the DON'T credits cite Diego Garcia as editor.  The LET and MANCHESTER titles give Francesco Sempere's credit as "lighting cameraman" while the DON'T credits give him the "director of photography" credit.  Giuliano Sorgini's music credit reads "music composed and conducted by" in the LET/MANCHESTER credits but read "music composed and directed by" in the DON'T credits.  Lastly, LET/MANCHESTER credits only Felice D'Alisera as "production manager" but the DON'T credits add Manolo Perez and give the credit as "Director of Production."

I know the new BU disc has the MANCHESTER MORGUE animated title (is it original or a recreation) but does it continue the titles over the painting or over the shots of London traffic like the original MANCHESTER release?

Interesting stuff ecc. I've yet to pick up the BU DVD, only got the old ABUS tin and the UK pre-cert VHS. I'll have to hook up my vcr and see what credits the VHS has.

I haven't bought the BU disc yet either.  I have the AB-US and AB-UK discs.  I'd like to hear the original stereo soundtrack for this film.  According to the booklet that came with the UK release, this was one of the first stereophonic releases in Spain.  The 2.0 track on the US and UK discs are likely (very likely) downmixes from the 5.1 mix.

I wonder if the soundtrack CD preserves the original stereo recording? I've only got a CD-R copy of it and haven't listened to it for a while but I remember it sounding great, great atmospheric stuff with zombie moans included. I'll have to dig it out now!

Well, the music was recorded in stereo (which is pretty common - which is also unfortunate since a lot of these scores lose some instrumentation when mixed down to mono) but I don't know much about stereo mixing methods in the seventies so I don't know if just the music was in stereo or if they placed the sound effects directionally as well - CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD would've sounded great with an original stereo mix - but I'm guessing dialogue stayed in the center.

I wonder when a Spanish company will get around to releasing the film on DVD and if their version (covered/censored or not) will have a stereo mix.

Do either the Spanish or Italian discs have original stereo tracks?  The specs for both list just 2.0 which could mean mono or stereo.
