The new 2 disc set is coming. Some nice features.

Can't wait to get this. Especially looking forward to the locations doc. I live about 20 minutes away from Manchester so I'll be heading out to find the locations after I've seen this!

This film is one of the better zombie films. I enjoy watching this over and over, I love the George character, the grumpy policeman, and of course, the gore.

Not 100% class, but a film that i can truly give space to.
The film reminds me of a James Herbert novel: English countryside, great characters, tons of sick gore, and the story. Anyone else think this?

I've been meaning to check this movie out for some time.  Is this new release the release to get or are any of the previous releases the way to go?  I apologize for my ignorance, I just haven't compared any of the releases... :(

I can't speak for the UK, but it's been released numerous times in the US. An AB disc as well as a limited edition tin. I think AB re-released it before BU got it and they released the same edition recently now this new 2 disc release is coming. Considering how many times it has come out, testing the waters for a new, extras packed release doesn't make a lot of sense. I'll be buying the new one anyway, though  ::)

I have the LE Anchor Bay Tin, comes with a toe tag - a nice gimmick. :)

That's the one I have too! I've also still got the big box pre-cert VHS under the title 'The Living Dead'.

Definitely don't mind buying the new BU DVD, it's a brand new master of the print afterall plus there's some nice new extras. Won't be that pricey either, I'd imagine I'll be able to pick this up for around £10.

You can't go wrong with this flick: I have the pre-cert, the AB tin box and the regular AB DVD.

Don't ask me why...

Unlike some of the other Italian zombie films. this one can be taken seriously because it is really well-made. I used to have a cut Greek VHS and got rid of it after getting the UK disc on Anchor Bay, its lovely.

Still got mine! I'm going to keep hold of it. Might be worth anything between £10 to £35 but I'm holding onto this one. Keep it for the 'Archive'...

There's a two disc special edition of this classic on the way from Blue Underground USA - a new featurette shows Grau walking around some of the locations. You heard it here first!
Is the UK Anchor Bay disc out of print now?I've got one which includes Nigel Burrell's colour book but someone said even this has now been discountinued.

Indeed, same as many of there older titles - OOP and soon to be re-issued by Blue Underground. From what I understand, Lustig bought the rights and sub-licenced them to Anchor Bay, when he was doing acquisitions there.

Thanks Paul, can never have too many copies of this classic.
Also got a strange German bootleg which has English/German options plus the US extras and the complete soundtrack as an easter egg, nice looking but they obviously used a censored print and added the gore scenes themselves as there's a noticeable drop in quality.
