Série Noire (Alain Corneau, 1979)

Just finished watching Série Noire (Alain Corneau). What a wonderful film.
Patrick Dewaere is the main player and his performance is just amazing. Such a sombre story of how life can suck. Marie Trintignant plays the quiet and strange girl who is in love with him. Funny and gritty, I can't emphasise how good this is!

A story of tragedy played by tragic actors. Sad to see that Dewaere ended his life so early and we all know the terrible ending of Trintignant's life! Andreas Katsulas (Babylon 5 fame) also stars speaking French, another actor who has sadly passed.

Anyone else seen this?
I watched the Studio Canal DVD that was part of the French newsagents-only series: "Collection Polars Français". Sadly only a French track but a crystal print.

I've wondered about this one before. Cheers for the heads up, Broonage. BTW - There's an English friendly (subbed) version on CG.

Great to see some props for this one. Great film and Patrick Dewaere's performance is simply out of this world. That man is nuts.

Wouldn't place it in this subforum, though. Solid arthouse.
