just saw this one after the price dropped to 9.99 on amazon.

obviously more of a political drama than a violent cop film, similar to confessions of a police captain.

i thought this one was very good, with lovely cinematography, a good performance by nero, and some well cast actors including many damiani regulars.

the violence, although sparse, is impactful, and the political and social drama although sometimes a little dragging is overall interesting especially the depiction of the mafia and its influence on politics.

didn't see a thread on this already, what does everyone think about this one?

I just watched it recently, after sitting unopened for years, and it was very good.  Should have watched it a long time ago.

i especially liked renzo palmer's character, Vincenzo Terrasini, the flashy mafia boss driving the fancy ferrari.

there's a scene with nero inside the ferrari (or whatever awesome car it is) joking with palmer about the mafia that is classic:

Yeah, that's a great moment, perfectly acted.

I saw this for the first time on the Blue Underground disc, and I liked it only okay.

But then I saw it at the Miami Beach Cinematheque with Franco Nero in attendance, and I liked it considerably better. There was a scene in the middle (I'm a little fuzzy on the details), between Nero and some toughs in some small Sicilian village. I remember the scene played with no music, and it struck me as terrifically realistic.

Ironically, the crowd in Miami seemed to dislike the movie, but perhaps that had to do with the film's length and the fact that we were seated on uncomfortable wooden chairs. (I think the only reason JUDGE was chosen to screen was because it was (a) Sicilian and (b) the hero wasn't a gangster.)

Finally got around to watching this last night. Was pretty decent, not the best I've ever seen but worth a look.
