3 days left and only ~700$ pledged. That's harsh.

There's no surprise.
Sadly I'm sure they won't do that again, therefore no Italian crime for us!

Why on earth did they go for such an obscure title?

Sad but unsurprising. Looks like a missed opportunity, I am sure the crime films would have faired better. I might throw them another email urging them not to give up. If they don't end up releasing the crime films here's hoping that they will licence them to another label that would be willing to take a chance on them. I doubt Lustig would since he stated that the crime films didn't sell well.

'Argoman' has been released on dvd, mine is on the way, what is more interesting is that to raise money for future releases they are selling dvdrs of their all their screeners, these come with artwork etc, so the first four are available and it seems 'special cop in action' will be available shortly. I would rather have a decent dvdr than nothing at all and fingers crossed if this works we may see a special edition further down the line

http://dorado-films.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/dorado-films-screeners-project-dvdrs.html

EDIT - special cop.. is already available as well as loads more at this link. the argoman dvd is only 12$ and the screeners are only $6 which seems pretty fair to me.link here

http://doradofilms.com/store/all.php

EDIT - appears to be 4:3 aspect ratio. anyone know the oar?

Thanks for the info,I'd certainly like a decent dvd of Argoman.  ::)
Btw what does "(Oregon Version)" mean?

Also I'll have to look into some of those screeners. :D
Think I already own Electra One in the "Bullets box"?

I think they had a dvd launch in oregon, i think you get a pen and some other promotional bits, am I right in thinking 'special cop...' has had no dvd release? If so this is most welcome despite being from a 1" tape

Ordered by copy Special Cop Feburary 15th, with no sign of it in the post, and no reply to my email inquiry from the site. Beginning to get worried/miffed.  >:(

So the ARGOMAN release is a real DVD then? If it is, I might get it but I'm not interested in paying for some watermarked DVD-R screener of sub-par quality to help them fund a better release. Their business strategy is just totally fucked!!  :)

From what I understand, it is a real DVD, but it's not the "final" release.
This so-called "Oregon" edition was made for a recent theatrical screening, and features only an English audio track. It's implied that a new edition will be made available in the future, probably with additional audio options.

Its not all that different to what the majors are doing with their MOD programmes, but i agree the watermarking is a bit of a pain. I guess they are also hoping to gauge popularity of titles?
I have seen some good quality dvds from 1" tapes, code reds 'mardi gras massacre' springs to mind, but the aspect ratio is a concern.

But for $6 you cant really moan, there are still people like me who dont download torrents or dont have access to good trades so if this is the best option for the time being then so be it

The difference being that with Warner Archives etc is all they are doing. They aren't releasing MOD product to raise money to release the films again.

Looks like Dorado is as incompetent in the Blu field as the DVD arena.
Reading NIGHT OF THE SCORPION looks worse than than the Franco's.

Not much chance of them ever seeing a penny of support from my pocket.

They make Code Red look like Criterion.
