That's quality, Jay - could you imagine a rape/revenge flick acted-out by dolls a la Todd Haynes' Karen Carpenter biopic? I reckon we could be on to something here  ::)

Another book I'll have to get! I have always liked Luciano Rossi and his wonderful sleazy, scumbag performances. I had a great time watching THE SWORD OF THE BARBARIANS (1982), which features Luciano in a rear good guy role! Has anyone ever seen him in any other sympathetic roles?

Also, does this book shed any light on the scene where he gets a blowjob (non-simulated) in HOTEL PARADISE? My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw that and the thought of him doing that scene still boggles the mind! lol!  :-\

Only Luigi Zampa's wonderful BISTURI:LA MAFIA BIANCA (Hospital:The White Mafia) where he plays the son of an old man on his way to an operation,he's only on-screen for a very short time but with zero violence or threatening behaviour from him :-\  Great film btw from Zampa with Gabriele Ferzetti in an amazing role as the very dodgy head surgeon of a private hospital, well worth checking out and totally different than what you'd expect.

He plays a sympathetic role in the classic operatic spaghetti western THE FORGOTTEN PISTOLERO. He has some decent screen time as well and creates much sympathy for his character who deeply loves his wife only she doesn't feel the same about him.

I saw/had a Greek tape of this but without the hardcore, quite surprised he ended up doing something like that.
There's only 2 lines about the scene in the book with the author saying she spent 2 days recovering after seeing it  :-\
Reminds me of Kieran Canter from Beyond the Darkness who was supposed to have gone on to do h/c films in Italian/Europe,also read he was Irish but this could be someone thinking it because of his name.Any idea Johan?

Anybody has the hardcore version of HOTEL PARADISE? Have heard a lot about the film but never had it or seen it. If anybody wants to trade a copy, please get in touch!

The Danish vhs version contains all the hardcore scenes. Most of them consist of pretty obvious body doubles for Cristina Lay and Gota Gobert but there's a scene of Ajita Wilson fingering herself that I'm sure was done by Ajita herself (hardly a surprise as she did do her fair share of hardcore porn) and the scene where Luciano is getting a blowjob by Guia Lauri Filzi, who was a busy hardcore diva during the early hardcore scene in Italy. I used to think that she scene with Luciano and Guia was shot specifically for the hardcore market since Guia doesn't appear in any of the other scenes. However, their scene also pops up in the atrocious-looking Hong Kong dvd release but minus the hardcore shots.

The only porno film I've seen Kieran Canter in is THE DEVIL IN MR. HOLMES (1986), which is one of the two porno films John Holmes made in Italy. Kieran plays the devil but doesn't actually appear in any sex scenes. It's a pretty interesting film, though, and it also stars Karin Schubert and Marina Frajese. The US dvd from Paradise Visuals is quite good-looking and well worth picking up.

Anyway, I know IMDb also lists Canter as being in Moana Pozzi's hardcore debut EROTIC FLASH (1981) and another porno called EROTICOBLUES (1981) but I haven't seen any of them. However, I've heard several times that he did porno so I've no reason to doubt it. There are lots and lots of legitimate actors in Italian films who ended up doing hardcore porn and I must say the topic fascinates me quite a bit. As for Kieran, he also appears to have done a lot of uncredited work. I found him in a small role in Sirpa Lane's final film THE SECRET NIGHTS OF LUCREZIA BORGIA (1982) for example, and I know he also did some acting under the name Mack Kiran. Rather mysterious bloke I say!

Sounds great! I met here when she was over in London a few months back.

You'll have to keep us informed of what print of VIOLENT NAPLES they screen.

I went to the signing/screening with my pal Franco Cleef. We both bought the book and got it signed, then went into the theatre to await the screening. That's when we got the bad news, they were projecting the DVD, not a 35mm print. Anyway, it was still cool to see the movie on the big screen with an audience. The crowd enjoyed it and thankfully there wasn't too much ironic laughter. Kier-La also showed us a "top-secret" trailer for a forthcoming documentary she's involved with. If it gets completed, poliziesco fans should be in for a treat.
