Finally coming from Dark Sky films on April 28.

A small town in 18th century Transylvania is being terrorized by an evil witch. When a child is brutally attacked, the villagers capture the fiend and sentence her to death by dunking chair, but not before she casts a curse on them and their descendants. Two hundred years later, young newlyweds Veronica (Barbara Steele, BLACK SUNDAY) and Philip (Ian Ogilvy, AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS) pass through the town on a tour of the Carpathians, only to have their car pulled into a lake by an unseen force . A passing truck driver quickly rescues two bodies from the wreck. One is Philip, battered but alive, and the other is... the witch, back from the dead to wreak havoc on the town once again! Can Philip and his newfound friend, the great grandson of Professor Van Helsing, capture the witch and bring back Veronica?

New 16x9 Scope transfer from extremely rare vault materials, with audio commentary by Barbara Steele, Ian Ogilvy and producer Paul Maslansky

Can't wait for this! I've only ever seen it via an awful quality fullscreen transfer.

Sad to say it's not a great movie by any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah, I know but it at least gives the chance to see it in the original ratio with a decent print plus Ian Ogilvy is allways interesting when talking about his old friend Reeves.

has Barbara Steele ever done an audio commentary before?
got this film somewhere in one of the usual, awful publico-domain versions, but haven't watched it yet - so this is great news. go, dark sky, go!

For posterity here's some grabs from my 'Alpha Video' DVD...

The Alpha DVD looks very much like the free Internet Archive source.

Still, any Reeves is well worth watching IMO - is there a better print of The Sorcerors than the UK DVD from a few years back worth getting?

Just watched the dvd.
What a fun movie!
I liked it before and I like it even more in this presentation from Dark Sky.
Probably one of my favorite releases this year so far.
The commentary was also very nice and Barbara Steele was very witty.
It seems hard to believe for the actors but there are people who genuinely like this movie (myself included) and not in a "so bad it's good way".
This is a gothic horror/comedy and it actually works.
I think most people are expecting a straight gothic based on the advertising...

Can anybody remember what the quality of the print used for the Channel 4 tv showing years ago was like? I think it was from 16mm.

As far as I can remember it was pretty poor quality... definitely from a 16mm print

A new VHS Archives entry:

Has this received any foreign VHS releases?  I did a quick google and didn't see any.
