It needs to be watched on your home set-up - you can't judge the quality of a transfer by a few screen caps on a forum.

Zombie Flesh Eaters – Restored by the 142 Team

"James White explains: “Like many horror films from this period, Zombie Flesh Eaters has been subjected to poor representation over the years, with fans having to make do with censored or incomplete versions, cropped pan-and-scanned images, and releases of generally dubious quality."

Hold on a second!!

There was a Dragon Laserdisc, a Japanese Laserdisc, a Roan Group Laserdisc, - then a series of DVD releases...  all uncut, and all wide screen.

Who on earth has had to suffer through a censored or incomplete , cropped pan-and-scanned version in the last 20 years?

I'm not having a dig, but that does seem like an odd thing to say. It isn't 1992!  ::)

That said this release is for the UK market and the print in one of Anchor Bay's BOX OF THE BANNED aside, the film hasn't had a decent, uncut release here at all. While most of us are savvy-enough to know that uncut, restored versions are easily attainable from overseas, this sweeping statement is aimed at the average joe on the street who is clueless about the cuts and the like but to people like you and I the comments seem more than a little hyperbolic.

Many DVDs, especially Blu-rays are re-mastered from the negs for their releases - this one never had been until now.

It just occured to me last night that my laptop only goes to 720p.

Maybe this is why others see a much sharper Arrow capture than me.

I certainly would never judge a movie by a few screen caps on a website, unless of course it's really obviously crap.

Arrow:

Blue Underground

As can be seen, the Arrow has more Picture information on all four sides and more detail. Compare the blood on the left hand side on the face of the woman.

All I said was the Arrow caps look too bright. Don't piss your pants, people.

Note I used the word 'caps' - I didn't say the Arrow disc IS brighter.

Who's "pissing their pants"?

That BU cap above does look a little too pink.

So has anyone bought the Arrow DVD or BR release? What's your opinions on the visuals?

The steel book edition is £16 in my local HMV, I'm tempted to get it now despite not been HD yet. Which edition doesn't the booklet though is it the standard BR or the Steel Book I can't remember?

The booklet is in all I think. The poster isn't in the standard one.
