The Crezz (1976)
« on: 28 Nov 2012 - 11:46 »

Just finished watching this 12 part series. Good stuff, really enjoyed it although some episodes are hit and miss.

Featuring plenty of recognisable faces, among them Joss Ackland, Nicholas Ball, Peter Bowles, Joan Hickson and Bob Hoskins (Who plays a detective in one episode pursuing a flasher)

Network DVD

Created by BAFTA-nominated writer and playwright Clive Exton, this series of twelve soap-style dramas takes a light-hearted look at the varied inhabitants of Carlisle Crescent, a fictitious West London street, who share communal gardens but little sense of community spirit. With further scripts by Willis Hall (Billy Liar, Budgie), William Trevor (Play for Today) and Alick Rowe (Morgan’s Boy, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie) The Crezz features an exceptional ensemble cast that includes stand-out performances from Joss Ackland, Peter Bowles and Nicholas Ball. The focal point for ‘the Crezz’ is the Gardens Committee chaired by lecturer Charles Bronte (Ackland). Although desperately keen to foster a sense of cohesion, he is often forced to mediate in the disputes that arise among the Crescent’s residents. Resentment, rivalry and jealousy are never far from the surface...
