Watched this for the first time the other night and really, really enjoyed it. Possibly one of my favourite Rollin films so far, though I've not seen many to be honest.

Was particularly taken by Ursule Pauly who is just stunning, especially when we can see her freckles... Wow!

Watched the Encore DVD which looked and sounded great.

  • Aarrgghh!

I still haven't got round to watching this one - but I was very impressed by the quality of the other Encore releases. I chucked the REQUIEM FOR A VAMPIRE disc in for a little look a few months back and ended up sitting mesmerized through the whole film.

The Encore release of Night of the Hunted is a revelation!

The Encore disc is pretty definitive.  The aspect ratio is slightly annoying, it is stretched from 1.66:1 to 1.78:1 so faces appear rounder in close-ups, but the quality and extras are great.

  • j'aime tous les dvds.

Not seen this in years, I have the Darkside version which I always believed was cut, however according to Rewind it may be uncut.

I have a few of the Encore discs including VIOL and they are excellent. NIGHT OF THE HUNTED and REQUIEM FOR A VAMPIRE are favourites, but I really need to pick up the Encore release of THE DEMONIACS at some point.

Rollin's films would look stunning on Blu-ray.

Saw this on the Redemption VHS years ago (which i probably still have somewhere.) Batshit crazy even by Rollin's exalted standards, and I mean that in a good way, of course. Recently picked up the Encore double disc - I'm saving the film itself for exactly the right moment, but I watched the extras, and they're fascinating. Particularly enjoyed the interview with Jacqueline Sieger, Queen of the Vampires, who is a real character with some great stories to tell. Rollin himself is interviewed at length, though about the making of his penultimate film La Nuit Des Horloges, oddly enough.

I saw this film for the second time last night. I bought it 6-7 years ago in The Vampire Collection from Redemption and watched all of them few days later. I thought that what a weird pack of movies.

Now years have passed and my opinion haven't changed. Right from the start you get the feeling "what the fuck?" and it just goes on and on. I can honestly say that the first part of the movie was something that I didn't get at all. The second part made some sense because I started to recognize characters and the plot was more logical. Of course art is something that doesn't necessarily have to make sense but give me a break.

This film reminded me a lot of Un chien andalou, it was also a movie that I didn't get even though I liked pretty much.
