James Herbert RIP

RATS was probably the most swapped book in the 70s school playgrounds. That's a legacy there.

Sad news. Reading Rats as a kid was a game changer.

I rarely post in RIP threads but yeah, Rats and The Fog kept me going through my pre teens. Remember talking about the bit in The Fog where the vicar pissed on his congregation for weeks after reading it.

The Rats have found their Lair! RIP James, I didn't know he'd got an OBE.

R.I.P.

He seemed quite pleasant and down to earth when I met him.

I had shelves full of his books plus Shaun Hutson and Guy N Smith when I was at secondary school. Plus loads of film tie ins for the Friday 13th films, Dawn of the Dead etc. Swapped the whole collection for a camouflage jacket. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I was only 14 at the the time which would be about 1983ish

Damn shame! Rats is next on my reading list. Haven't read it in 15 years!

Really loved DOMAIN when I read it, but all his early books are pretty great.
