Yeah, according to VS it's a 2k scan from a 35mm IP.
There's a few sample screenshots on their website.

I'm not sure you're aware, but one of the cool things about VS is that they do their own transfers in-house, with their own equipment.
They are a "spin-off" of a company called Process Blue, which specializes in film scanning and digital restoration. They have several well known clients, including Synapse Films, Drafthouse Films, and more.
That's why their releases look pretty impressive, especially those in HD.

Vinegar Syndrome has been releasing a few of their DVD titles as HD, 1080p downloads.

Today, to celebrate their October releases, they made available their first download-only (at least at present) title for free (or pay what you want).
It's a 1968 sexploitation production called The Night Hustlers. You can check it out here:

They could look like the actors are in my front room but if the films are shit then I'm not going to buy them.

No point buying anything unless I'm going to watch and enjoy them. Any recommendations as far as watchable films are concerned?

The XXX smut DVD releases are excellent and I highly recommend the documentary LABOUR OF LOVE.  MASSAGE PARLOUR MURDERS is fun in a time capsule sort of way, but is by no means a great film and GOOD LUCK MRS WYKOFF was a pleasant surprise. I've got almost everything they released. I love this label and I'm interviewing Joe, the owner of VS, on Saturday.
