He does know his stuff, but he's pedantic to the point of insanity. There are 'flaws' he points out that are so fleeting that most people wouldn't spot them if they went through the film frame by frame.

Couldn't agree more, exactly why I don't take what he says so seriously.

This is what you get when a youngster who was never about when we had to seek out tapes from all over the world for different editions with varying picture quality, different ratio's, burnt in subs, etc etc who no doubt watched pristine editions of Hollywood films on disc, moves onto Euro stuff and wonders why everything doesn't look like it was shot yesterday.

"Watching the Blue-Underground Cat O'Nine Tails disc I spotted a few scratches here and there, which totally ruined the presentation for me"

He's so far up his own arse he even records his own audio commentaries for everyone to "enjoy"

Go and play with your trains.

Speaking of Cat O'Nine Tails, which edition should I get, the BU or Arrow Video? I don' have the movie on blu-ray yet.

I'll let someone else answer that, I'll get accused of being biased.

I rented the Arrow edition of Cat the other week, it looked pretty good. I don't think there's much between the Blue Underground and Arrow editions in terms of picture and audio, the Arrow edition does have the High Rising produced special features with very long opening and closing titles.

Reason enough to plump for one of the other editions.  :-\ ;D

I've got both the BU and Koch ones myself, undecided whether to part with the BU one or not, the Arrow one obviously got dismissed ages ago when I got rid of everything Arrow and cured my collection of it's tumor.

I have the Italian Fox DVD of Inferno and it's enough for me. Cat I still need to get at some point though, watching it through the other week reminded me of how much I liked it.

I never knew you bought the Koch disc. I had one in a bundle and hummed and harred over keeping it but flogged it off. The Arrow one went ages ago. I like the look and sound of the BU disc best myself.
