That's right Peter, this film is a perfect example of an extreme and well-made European exploitation film that managed to sell itself around the world. I am pointing this out because all the other Greek (s)exploitation movies of that era were tame compared to this one and never managed to sell abroad- well a few did but NONE of them ever gained a worldwide cult following like ISLAND OF DEATH did.
The new films may be gorier than this but ISLAND OF DEATH is still too extreme for today's standards because it is politically incorrect and totally sleazy with its concepts of incest, bestiality, etc...
