I'm sure everyone out there is familiar with 'NO SHAME DVD' we all know they do a severe job with their releases, picture, audio, extras and packaging wise....but has anybody got any idea at all when they are gonna release any more classics of the giallo and poliziotteschi genre? And why its takin' sooo long. I'm sure its got something to do with rights to the movies or something but their web site does'nt say too much?!

Last I heard they were having distribution problems, whatever that means. Considering the low sales of similar films from BU, there may not be anymore releases in the US. It's a shame really (no pun intended) but hopefully there will be more and hopefully some more Merli and Silva movies!

That WOULD be a shame...and yes, some more Merli please.

Can anyone recommend Secrets of a Call Girl to me? It's one i've almost bought a few times but have always been put off by the slightly negative reviews it gets. I'm not even sure what genre it falls into, crime, exploitation, giallo?

I have it but have yet to see it. Everyone here likes it. It's definitely a crime film at its core. Stephen can elaborate further on it.

Secrets of a Call Girl is well worth checking out, very interesting crime movie with a romantic subplot which IMO works well and an amazing opening titles sequence.A real shame about the English export title which makes it sound more like a cheap soft porn movie  :)

I've had this since it came out - your constant "bigging it up" has made me want to try and find it, and give it a go. Pronto.  :-X

I liked Secrets of Call Girl (just missed out on a Mexican Lobby Card of it in fact  :-[ ) - it's worth picking up as Fenech gives a good performance in it. The relationship and some of the scenes between the girl and gangster reminded me at times of De Niro and Stone in CASINO (not sure whether Scorsese ever saw the film).

I watch it one night a couple of months back. Unfortunately I was so fucked up I can't remember a thing about it.

re: call girl
A copy of it arrived at the start of the week but i've been working my way through the wedge of discs i got through trash online for the last few days and have'nt had a look at it yet. I'll try to watch it this weekend, it sounds interesting going by the blurb in the insert.

Mostly stuff i'd read about here, Napoli Spara, Day of Violence, etc. I saw Violence for Kicks for the first time last night, what a riot. The barb wire scene is indeed a nasty one  :-* and the music is fucking insane! There's some really weird sounds coming out of that synth.
Another trashy masterpiece  :)

Just got Red Light Girls and Savage Three to go, I saw RLG a long time ago and i'm sure it will have been a cut version, looking at the Prostituzione poster in the Luciano Rossi book made me want to see it again.

So far i've been most impressed with Gang War In Naples from the batch of discs i got. Really great, i'm itching to watch it again actually.

I think you'll enjoy Savage 3,good original story and some nice sleazy scenes.

Yeah, it was good, i've posted my thoughts in the relevent thread to stay on topic  :-X

Secrets of a Call Girl was a cool way to spend 1hr 30mins. I liked Richard Conte in this, probably more-so than in others i've seen him in, and Pani was effective as the ruthless slimeball Guido.
I thought the best bits were the the ones involving Edwige carrying out criminal acts for the mob, the film could have used a few more scenes like this though and as is said in the interview extras it's hardly an exploitation genre film at all with little violence and all the nudity done in a tasteful manner.
Richard C. made a good point earlier, the relationship between the couple was reminiscent of something Scorsese would put in his films; although i thought the amount of shit that Edwige took right from the start stretched credibility slightly.

This reminded me a bit of the recent Romanzo Criminale in it's dramatic tone, heavily emphasising the human drama.
