Hey, all:
Thanks to all for your continued interest / support. Can't say it enough times. One thing that has always pained me was the perceived image that I abandoned LLaL, when in fact, I just had to quit all film boards in order to ensure that I'm *working* on movies instead of discussing movies. Oh, to have the luxury to do both.
EUROCRIME is still on track for its Oct 14 release, from what I hear, although I had to reject the first checkdisc I received for really compressed-looking authoring. The subdistributor apparently just cranked out the first authoring attempt, not minding quality. Now everyone's a little miffed at me that a second pass has to be done. Oh well. The sense that I get is that I should be feeling lucky to be getting a DVD release at all, in this age of dying physical media.
Crazy timing: A year ago, my fiancee and I booked our wedding location for early October, 2014, and when I signed the EUROCRIME contract with Cinema Epoch, I realized that the release was almost within a week of the wedding.
Fortunately, that prince among men, Jonny Redman, is helping out with making sure the European kickstarter donors get their discs in a timely fashion. Would be running way late otherwise.
But you guys don't care about the bullshit that is me signing the DVDs, I'm hoping? (The Kickstarter mentioned Malloy-signed DVDs.) It just makes sense for the distrib to ship straight to Jonny, given the circumstances. Otherwise, the discs are going to be waay late coming to you. When I get bread-ahead in life, maybe I can sign some postcards for the official DJANGO LIVES project I co-wrote and mail them out to you guys (they may end up collectible if, God forbid, the film doesn't get produced). Or maybe you can convince Associate Producer Jonny Redman to sign your copy. In any case, I'm not trying to duck out of something, but I really don't even know why I offered the signature in the first place; it's just me, not somebody of note.
I've been receiving all your kickstarter messages and updating the address list. And I'll be sharing it with Jonny.
