The Fan / Der Fan (Eckhart Schmidt, 1982)

THE FAN
(Der Fan) aka TRANCE

Directed by Eckhart Schmidt
W. Germany, 1982, color
94 minutes, 1.78:1/16:9, English/German
Starring: Desiree Nosbusch, Bodo Staiger, Simone Brahmann, Jonas Vischer, Helga Tolle, Klaus Munster

Teenager Simone appears to be like any other young pop fan. But soon her fixation on the band's lead singer "R" takes over her life. She walks out of her school, breaks off from her friends and parents and somehow finds herself waiting for her idol as he appears on a TV show.

Simone wants nothing more than to love and be loved by "R", but he uses her with machine-like coldness. When he walks out on her to join his friends, she plots her revenge. She plans the ultimate sacrifice of her god on the altar of her madness, a ceremony as exalted and romantic as it is horribly wonderful.

The Fan is a shocking and controversial film which has never been previously released in the US. This is the full and uncut original version.

I'm going to wait for the general release. A red case is nice but I'm not going to spend extra and $17 shipping for it.

Will this be Mondo Macabro's first blu-ray release?

I see what you mean but I thought "fuck it", it's only $5 more. And postage is $15 (where are you for $17?) but it's registered, most places charge $12 or so for normal shipping from U.S. so the not that much extra for a limited edition is fine by me.

A guy who's running the store and working for them posted it on blu-ray.com. A few people complained about the $17 so he must have brought it down a little. I am a little torn but right now the full release is just under $25 inc shipping from Amazon US so it's a decent saving.

Must have put it down really quick then as I when I ordered it it had only been up for 40 odd minutes and it was $15, then about an hour or so later I made this thread.

I looked at the thread and seems he reacted to the pressure to drop it a day or two before it went up for sale.

Looks like you might have a refund coming. He's now posted that thay're looking into a way to get the stock to the UK Mondo base and ship from there to the UK and Europe for preorders. They're also adding in an exclusive booklet to the Ltd Ed as well now. I'm definitely in if they sort out the UK shipping and getting more tempted by a booklet anyway.  :-\

... can imagine lots of complaints from international customers that can now directly access labels own shops - especially if they're labels that have bases in both the USA and the UK. seen some mentions connected to kickstarter restorations for releases that show it's being used as a way of funding sales of purchases rather than supporting restorations or presentations that rewards gifts - i.e items marked as 'merchandise' getting hit for import duty, rather than technically being possible to describe contents as 'gifts' and making the higher limit before such things kick in ...

Had a friend come over to visit from Thailand, it was my birthday then went to London for a couple of days and completely forgot that the preorder finished this weekend!

Apparently the rest of the copies will all ship from the US so I missed out on the cheap price.
