Have only seen four gialli so far, but I would rate them thus:

- DEEP RED
- THE FIFTH CORD
- TENEBRAE
- BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE

I watched BIRD recently and it was...OK. I felt it was Argento getting into his stride rather than anything else. DEEP RED stuck in my mind much more (and not just for the scary robot doll!!)

Hi guys!
I'm new here and since i love gialli my first post should be here.  ;) In general my favorites are "by the book" gialli - violent and stylish murder mysteries. So my favorite 10 in no order are:
7 bloodstained orchids
My dear killer
Bloodstained shadow
Who saw her die
Opera
Bird with crystal plumage
Torso
Case of the bloody iris
A blade in the Dark
House with laughing windows

3 Lo strano vizio della signora Wardh
4 La coda dello scorpione
5 Profondo rosso
6 Una lucertola con la pelle di donna
7 Cosa avete fatto a Solange?
8 Sei donne per l'assassino
9 Non si sevizia un paperino
10 La tarantula dal ventre nero

Deep Red
Tenebrae
Curse of the scorpion's tail
My Dear Killer (shockingly underated IMHO)
Seven blood stained orchids.

I've always struggled with Short night of glass dolls. It's beautifully shot but i wouldn't class it as a Giallo persee. More of a mystery thriller.

I love too many, but I'll start with my all time favorite giallo (and all time favorite film) -- Romolo Guerrieri's La Controfigura (aka, The Double, aka, Love Inferno) ... Some of my other favorites include Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion; Snapshot for Murder; Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh; Quiet Place to Kill; My Wife, A Body to Love; The Sweet Body of Deborah; Death Laid an Egg; Deadly Sweet; All the Colors of the Dark; Interabang; The Killer Wore Gloves; and many more!

Great list!  I like your emphasis on the late 60s films.

I finally saw What Have You Done to Solange? today, and it immediately jumped to near the top of my list. Between the tightly plotted story, that terribly sad last scene, and beauties around every corner, not a dull moment was had. Great film. Wish the DVD wasn't out of print...

Hi, one of my favorite giallo is The Possessed aka La donna del lago from Luigi Bazzoni, its a real gem for me. I really love that depressive and sad atmosphere which movie has...

Recently, The Dead Are Alive jumped into my top 3 faves. So moody and so crazy. It's a good one.

Maybe its me, but I just saw:

BLOODSTAINED SHADOW
SHORT NIGHT OF GLASS DOLLS
WHO SAW HER DIE?

Saw them all for the 1st time via Blue Underground DVD.
Was not impressed with any of them! Although none were helped by having only English dub option.
Does anyone have anything good to say about these?
