Looks good, let's hope it's Argento back on form again.

i wonder how many times in the film Udo Kier will say "Muzzer of tears"? ::)

He'll probably say "SE Mava off Tiirs". :-\

"We" Germans really have to struggle with our accent... :-*

This looks very promising although I am sick and tired of all the speculations about it.... I won't read any of those tons of reviews people post at other forums, I am just looking forward to watching the film itself! Dario's post-OPERA works are very controversial, I just love all his films, except that HITCHCOCK piece of shit.

The only things that hurt CARD PLAYER- internet poker sequences and that stupid ending. Otherwise I thought it was pretty good. PHANTOM is the one everybody hates but I still thought it was good. Not great, just good. At least these films had professional actors and not amateur kids like HITCHCOCK- that was unwatchable. The new one is going to be killer, I am pretty sure of that.

I'm looking forward to seeing MOTHER OF TEARS, but look upon it as a "new Argento flick", rather than a sequel to SUSPIRIA and INFERNO, that way I wont be disappointed if its not very good. With the cast involved in this, I really can't see it being a stinker.

I am not sure about this film. I hated susperia and inferno, I just can't get on with Argento in supernatural mode. I loved tenebrae deep red and the giallo but sorry his supernatural films for me don't work.  And don't even start me on Phenomena and the insects with stupid monkey ending.

Well, the minor trouble with "Suspiria" - mindblowing classic that it is anyway ;D - might be that it has a powerhouse first 15 minutes, followed by lots of style and atmosphere and a couple of nice set pieces, but apart from the nightmarish chase sequence ending in the "barbed wire room", there's nothing even remotely as gruelling in sight for the rest of the running time. And the "conclusion" is particularly unspectacular...given the opening! It's not the only film offering the best bit first, but it's certainly one of these cases for which repeated viewing helps a great deal to develop a deeper appreciation for the movie. ;) Worked for me, still like "Tenebrae" and "Opera" better. ::)

That trailer certainly seems to suggest that Argento's visual style seems to have recovered - There's some exquitely-lit shots among those seen in the trailer. Shame the trailer tries to market the film like one of those pre-millennial thrillers that were of the rage back in the late 80s/early 90s. Still, this does rank as one of my most anticipated films.

Oh dear! Marc watched this the other day and posted the following on the ABUK forum:

Quote from: Marc Morris
Yesterday I had the misfortune of sitting (and laughing) my way through Mother of Tears: The Third Mother. The screening here at the American Film Market was poorly attended as most have already heard bad reports about it. About a quarter of those that did attend left during the first 30 minutes.

This bears no resemblance in any way whatsoever to the previous two movies, and is a very poory realised travesty, amateur in every aspect. Bad acting (even Asia hams it up), dire script, lacklustre score, even the fx are ropey. It plays more like a spoof of his earlier movies, and has a dreadful 80s cheesy feel to it.

Sorry guys, see it once, then finally accept once and for all that the final nail has been firmly hammered into Dario's filmmaking coffin.

I'll still be picking up the DVD to check it out for myself but I'm not surprised in the slightest by Marc's opinion. I've read many similar reviews on the web before this too, the good ones so far seem to be by people who can't bring themselves to knock Argento and are in some sort of state of denial.

Completist that I am, I shall be buying the DVD, whether it's good or bad – I would also like to make up my own mind. Point of trivia: this has been picked up by Optimum Releasing for the UK.
