Shameless is a new UK label run by a group of dedicated people with a huge love of the genre and devoted to releasing the films we love. Shameless' first releases are available on 1st October – these are Lucio Fulci's notorious NEW YORK RIPPER and Ruggero Deodato's latter-day giallo, THE PHANTOM OF DEATH (aka OFF BALANCE). These will be followed by Sergio Martino's TORSO and the previously-banned KILLER NUN in November.

Official Press Release:

OUT WITH THE SLICK - IN WITH THE SICK!

1st October sees the launch of Shameless Screen Entertainment which will be a highly visible pulp-inspired in-your-face exploitation brand of discovery offering up carefully picked vile, evil, gore-soaked, demented, disturbing, deranged, naked flesh-filled, flesh-ripping, depraved, tormenting movies that will delight horror and exploitation fans. Working from a growing vault of several hundred films Shameless will often be able to offer titles brought for the first time to UK DVD and in some cases films never before available on UK home video!
Shameless don't plan to add to the pyre of bland remakes, over-exposed classics and all the rubbish-in-between cheapo horror that's clogging-up the shelves but rather to showcase all sorts of rare delights with the longest, best available versions of each film released at the low RRP of £12.99.

Shameless are borrowing a lot of old school video techniques to help their titles stand out. The 80s were great days for selling
exploitation titles and they feel that over the years a lot of tricks have been missed. Look on eBay and you'll see vibrant sales for old VHS and even Betamax titles from Thorn EMI, Vipco, Intervision, Avco Embassy, Medusa and even majors like old Warner Bros titles. What they all shared were gratuitous, in-your-face lurid artwork that promised an unforgettable night-in.

Shameless titles will stand out like a sore thumb in amongst all the bland slick uniformity on the shelves. With eye-bleeding distinctive pulp yellow sleeves reworked for a new generation of horror lovers and housed in stunningly sexy clear yellow Amaray cases it's a sure bet that in a sea of slick you'll always be able to spot the Shameless sick!

October, November and December will be stuffed with quality horror alternatives just in time for Halloween and of course for Christmas where plenty of people want to seek refuge from all the syrupy sweetness with several bolts of terror, gore and shocks!

Apart from The Black Cat none of the titles coming out in 2007 have been released on UK DVD, all are presented in their longest ever versions and they all offer something different. New York Ripper is the ultimate in shock gore, Phantom of Death boasts impeccable cast and crew clearly having a ball, Torso is a saw-filled delight comparable to the best Argento films, Killer Nun is quite possibly the ultimate Nun movie, Black Cat is a rare Lucio Fulci film that showcases his skills in atmospheric dread and their version of Venus in Furs is the true sexy exploitation tribute to the S&M book of the same name.

I wonder which version of VENUS IN FURS it will be? I suspect it will be the version issued previously by Redemption (but without cuts). I have the Italian version and the German version, which has a completely different ending.

Almar - who came up for the taglines for the Shameless releases, mate? They're fucking hysterical! I was so impressed with the one for TORSO - Where Whores Meet Saws  ::), I printed out an enlarged copy and stuck it on the wall, next to my desk at work!

I'm glad the taglines go down well. Some movies come with great line eg The Funhouse with 'Pay to get in Pray to get out!' but a lot of these euro flicks don't. Where there are classic taglines we will use them but for the likes of Torso I came up with the new lines - same with Killer Nun, Phantom of Death, Black Cat and Venus in Furs (which is the sex and violence filled version thank you very much but we've yet to see what the BBFC will do to it). I'm struggling with Venus though - I had:

 'The Bliss of Sexual Torture'

but have now suggested:

'Beg to be tortured into sexual ecstasy!' for the front of pack.

Which is better or are they both pants? It's just not coming as easy for this one. Torso though - what a great film - I hope people outside these forums discover it. It's right up there with Argento's better giallos.

Seconded. There's a fine line between humorous and crass. Sadly I think my suggestion crosses over it.
