can we see a list of what crime is available Almar :D

or is it a secret
There might not be any mate. Give the guy a chance will you!  :-*

Plus this kinda venture involves investments of tens of thousands of pounds so don't expect a DVD release of 'Roma Violenta' just 'cos you asked for it on here...  :D
Not expecting anything mate

it would be nice to know what what was available that's all.

Paul and i had a good look through a canal+ list a few years back and there were some crackers on there :D

Movietime in Italy has some great stuff like Season for Assassins and Day of Violence.

I'd just like to say good luck to Almar and Shameless, i'll definately be buying Phantom of Death and Killer Nun when they come out and i'm looking forward to what they do in the future.

Straying off topic,

What about VIOLENT ROME? This would certainly sell more than CONVOY BUSTERS. It has a very nasty reputation.

For sure it would! It'd be interesting to know what crime films Almar/Shameless has access to via the deal they currently have going.

I'd be astonished if Violent Rome ever got passed the BBFC untouched, the rape scene with Luciano Rossi is pretty nasty and violent.

I still think SPECIAL COP in action would be a lucrative title, since it's not out anywhere. If a disc was sto surface with English and Italian options, the company responsible would clean up. Same goes for FROM CORLEONE TO BROOKLYN and obviously, HIGH CRIME, which is owned by Canal+.

Hey people should feel free to ask and list titles they'd like to see - no point putting out DVDs no one wants - that way lies ruin. I'd like to thank everyone so far for all the positive comments and I'm taking them all in.

There is no magic list as yet - we almost have to create it from a pile of lists (none of which are handy spreadsheets) we're working through. I keep meaning to create a master list but the sheer drudgery of getting DVDs out to market keeps getting in the way! I can cut through a lot of crap first though if people give me their requests - crime, horror, thriller and action. I know I want to put out Strike Commando but that's because I'm insane - would anyone buy it! First though let me look into Violent Rome... And yes it would make sense to look at titles not readily available worldwide or currently only in poor editions as long as we can sell enough - bear in mind our titles will cost a tenner a pop from most retailers with instant gratification!

Thing is, if you're talking about releasing something that's not seen the light of day anywhere else, you're guaranteed to sell a shitload through the likes of Amazon. While you only licence titles for the UK, there's nothing stopping Amazon selling your product on their .com, .de or .fr sites, and there's enough people worldwide who'd make such a move lucrative...

There's an example--and you can ask Neil from Pink about this--an Artificial eye title was predicted to sell around 300 copies all told. Still not too sure why it was getting a release with those kind of numbers in mind. anyway, a couple of weeks before release, World Cinema were given a 250+ order from amazon alone, as they'd sold a shitload of them through the .com site. this is definitely something worth keeping in mind.

Release that man, I beg you  :-\  :-\  :-\ Me and all my friends will buy it, I can promise you that! That film has a following and it seems to be getting bigger specially after Mattei's death. People on other forums (Mobius & DVD Maniacs) often mention how much they want a DVD of STRIKE COMMANDO!  :)

My kinda guy! Yes I'd love to put it out along with some other dubious delights - it's a pisser the sheer amount of effort (and money) that needs to go into releasing stuff otherwise I'd sign up for a multi-disc ultimate edition of Strike Commando right now! As for world sales Paul all our discs should be *ahem* region 0 - I think I alone have imported enough region 1s to justify that... Our titles will of course be PAL though - what problems does that pose these days for collectors in the US - does anyone know of people in the US who collect and watch PAL discs?

It won't pose a problem at all, I'm pretty sure most people in the US who collect DVDs have a multisystem player..

There's enough information linked from the product pages on amazon. Here's an example on amazon.com:

Casino Royale (1967)

Product Details

•   Format: PAL
•   Language: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian
•   Region: Region 2 (Read more about DVD formats.)
•   Aspect Ratio: 1.77:1
•   Average Customer Review:  based on 3 reviews. (Write a review.)
•   ASIN: B00005BAIQ
Would you like to update product info or give feedback on images? (We'll ask you to sign in so we can get back to you)
•   For more information about "Casino Royale [Region 2]" visit the Internet Movie Database (IMDb)

When you click through the DVD FORMATS link, you're met with the following page of information:

DVD Region Encoding

Global region codes identify specific DVDs that are compatible with the players typically sold in that region. The majority of all current titles play in only one specific region unless otherwise noted.
Most of the DVDs sold by Amazon.com are encoded for Region 1 (for standard DVDs) or Region A (for Blu-Ray DVDs) only and may not work on DVD players in other countries.

Standard DVDs
1.   U.S., U.S. Territories, Canada, and Bermuda
2.   Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East, including Egypt
3.   Southeast Asia, East Asia, including Hong Kong
4.   Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean
5.   Former Soviet Union, Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
6.   China
Blu-Ray DVDs
•   A/1: North America, Central America, South America, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
•   B/2: Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
•   C/3: India, Nepal, Mainland China, Russia, Central and South Asia.

Yeah I know multi-region players should be ok - it's the NTSC TVs I'm wondering about...

They do go to the trouble on mentioning the PAL format on the product page, mate.

NTSC never stops me buying region 0 disks, they always work, sometimes the colour is a little strong but i just go to menu and tone it down. Perfect  ::)

It's the other way around though, mate. Almar's quite right to be concerned, as a lot of American punters buy foreign VHS and DVD releases without reading desriptions properly. I've been a seller on eBay for five years, and have completely lost track of how many American buyers have bought my tapes and then complained about them being "faulty". I'm sure the door swings both ways and there are people here in Europe that have bought US releases without realising they can't play them. That said, the sort of people that look to buy the product we're talking about here do tend to be quite tech savvy.
