I don't quite get the appeal of this film. It had some good moments, and I really like the bit about the child's drawings as an important clue, but it's still kind of boring. And I was really amazed to see how incredibly stupid Merenda's character was! The bad guys were always one step ahead of him and he just came across totally incompetent.

Oh, and the English dubbing is on the same level as for those old GODZILLA movies, so thank God for the inclusion of the Italian track with subs. It made the film into passable entertainment for a rainy day at least.

I think it's quite good and up there with Merenda's best stuff, but obviously below the Martino flicks which i think are Merenda's best roles.

I also normally find Enzo Canavale quite amusing ::)

Managed to get my hands on the noshame release. Loved it and Merenda is fast becoming a favourite of mine.

Yes the No Shame release is excellent with a great transfer and good extras. Pity No Shame went bust as they would've gone on to release some real gems from all genres. Yes the english dub isn't the best. Its Merenda's dubber who is god awful and really spoils it. I've never heard the voice before but it sounds as bad/similar as merli's dubber in From Corleone to brooklyn? Where is Michael Forrest when you need him!

Pity all their releases go for big money these days on ebay/Amazon

Watched this for the first time the other night and enjoyed it, although I wouldn't say it's one of my favorite Eurocrime entries. The pacing was really brisk, but never felt really connected to what was going on plot-wise. Still, enjoyable and I liked the score, too...even if Noshame's liner notes didn't seem to agree!  :-\

Managed to pick this one up for quite cheap, mint condition as well. Had to turn off the english dubbing cos it was awful and thats the first time ive had to ever do that. Decent film tho i thought.

I'm in the same boat.  I started watching this yesterday on my portable DVD player during my lunch break at work.  I normally go with the dub in this situation so I don't always have to be staring at the screen while I'm eating, but the English track on this movie is so silly I had to switch over to Italian with subtitles.  I'm about 23 minutes in and we've had one order of Fernet Branca, a decent car chase through the streets of Napoli and lots of machine gun action -- so far so good.

It's one of the worst italian dub jobs i've heard. Im not sure if this was a Nick Alexander dub production? The guy dubbing Merenda sounds like a Dalek!  :)  Normally i watch the english dub but on this occasion the only way to watch this is the italian track with subs. Tarantini always throws in decent amounts of action in his flicks

I think Jonny's referring to the dub, not the film itself.

The film itself isn't a particularly impressive crime film but it's far from shit  :D

I usually enjoy the English dubbing of Italian films but was unable to put up with the horrible voice acting in this one. It's definitely not a dub by Nick Alexander, Ted Rusoff, Tony La Penna or any of those other reliable Fono Roma veterans. Couldn't recognize a single voice, so I think it's done by a different group of dubbers. Probably the same group that did DOUBLE GAME, VIOLENCE FOR KICKS, THE BEAST IN HEAT and some others. Those films are all unbearable to watch in English!
